Fox 5 at Lloyd's in Camp Springs

I found the link for when Fox 5 Morning News filmed at our affiliate Team Lloyd Irvin in Camp Springs this past Wednesday, December 20, 2006.  It’s good that they are showing martial arts to a wider audience.  Check it out:

Fury FC 2 - Sao Paulo, Brazil

Dave Kaplan (Team Lloyd Irvin) vs Christiano Marcello (Chute Boxe)

Well the fights are over and the results are in. Team Lloyd Irvin David Kaplan lost second round by triangle choke. First round saw David and his opponent exchanging lots of punches and kicks. Once it hit the ground we saw lots of action with having to defend submission after submission. With about 20 seconds left in the 1st round Dave escaped an armbard and end up on top. From there Dave started releasing a storm of punches that looked like the fight might be stopped. Then the bell rang. End of round one.

Round two saw more of the standing game and lots of clinhing as both men looked tired. Dave did a reversal taking the fight to the ground but ended up with getting caught in a triangle choke. As Dave tried to escape the triangle choke got extremely tight. Dave was forced to tap with 2:30 remaining in round 2. Dave got some great International experience and it will only help him grow into an even stronger fighter.

Mike Easton (Team Lloyd Irvin) VS Hudson Rocha (Brazilian Top Team)

Mike Easton wins by Knock Out in the second round. It started off VERY rough for Mike as he got caught in the choke early in round one. Everyone had told us that Hudson was extremely good at this choke and if he catches you with it the fight would be over. Well the first part was correct, but the fight the last part was not. Mike escaped the choke but was almost out on his feet. Hudson throws a BIG flying knee almost catching Mike, then takes Mike to the ground where the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt wanted to finish the fight.

Mikes jiu jitsu skills held up and the ref told the fighters to stand back up. Hudson screamed “NO”, then refused to get up, after a talking from the ref the fight was restarted and the rest is history.

Evolved Fighting Results - Philadelphia

On Saturday, December 2, 2006, Casey Campbell fought in his first Muay Thai bout at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia, PA. Casey came out strong, winning the first round. In the 2nd round and 3rd round, his opponent threw more kicks than Casey, therefore, winning the fight 29-28 (2 rounds to 1) and lost by decision. This was Casey's first fight and we are extremely proud of his progress at our school. This is just the beginning for Casey and we are preparing for a quick comeback. We expect to see him in the ring fighting soon again. See below a video clip of the first round from his fight Sat night.

On another note, instructor Dave Carter, was asked to fight last minute on Saturday night's card. He was given basically 5 hours notice. The promoter called and asked if we had a heavy weight available to fight on the card and Dave Carter agreed. Please note: We normally do not do last minute fight arrangements. However, the promoter insisted it was going to be good with 2 minute rest time. Dave has been doing mostly in house training and sparring. The last time he fought a Muay Thai event was two years ago! Dave put up an awesome fight, stopping his opponent in the first round with a leg kick. His opponent went down thinking he had broken a bone but when the doctor checked on him he discovered he was fine and able to continue. By this time the fight had already been stopped for over a minute, and his opponent's corner asked Carter if he wanted to continue. Carter wanting to put on a good show agreed and it was back to business. Carter finished the fight with 2 more knockdowns that left his opponent winded and hurt and won by decision after going through three rounds of punishing his opponent. Although he felt a little "out of shape" for lack of preparation for the fight, he was confident, ready to go, fast
food style.
